Jackie Schmidbauer-Finch (P’ip’ey’osot) is a member of Sts’ailes Nation and is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at Vancouver Island University, majoring in Indigenous/Xwulmuxw Studies, with an expected graduation date of April 2027. As an undergraduate, Jackie co-authored a paper titled “Indigenous Apocalyptic Fiction as Healing Narratives,” which is set to be published in the Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 issue of Transmotion.
During her time at university, Jackie held several leadership roles, including Peer Supported Learning Leader for Indigenous-focused English courses and Vice-President and Treasurer of the Indigenous/Xwulmuxw Studies Club.
